AEOLIAN RIDE KIDS GOVERNER’S ISLAND! SIGN UP TO WEAR A SUIT AND RIDE A BIKE! Does your kid love bubbles? Do they love bikes? Well, they are in luck! This is their chance to become a bubble on a bike (or a cat or a drop) because Aeolian Ride Kids is now inflating Governor’s island! Kids are invited to try on the Aeolian Ride inflatable bike costumes and do little loops and or join us for the Mini Parade around the Island. Where: Governor’s Island When: June 9th and 10th The inflatable plan: 2-4pm Kiddie Loops - we will set up in an area where kids can wear a costume and ride in a loop as long as they wish. 4:00 Suit up for Mini Parade: put costumes on folks who want to do a Follow the leader ride on the island. 4:30 Begin Mini Parade 5:00 End Mini Parade Bike and Roll has loaned us free bikes for kids for ages 6-18. You are also welcome to bring your bikes to the island. There is a limited number of costumes & loaner bikes so sign up online now www.aeolian-ride.info. Those who show up at 4pm and have signed up online will have priority for the bikes and costumes. Uncostumed children and family members are welcome to join the Mini Parade. Sign up online!

I am proud to announce that the sign up for the first official Aeolian Kids Ride - Rockaway New York May 19th is now open for those between the ages of 12 - 18 . For those under the age of 12 there will be a Aeolian Mini & Kids Ride this June 10th!! Stay tuned.

Thomas Porter’s Splendid Cycles

Brooklyn resident William Thomas Porter builds wonderful - and really weird - bikes. “I wouldn’t call them mutants,” he says of his bike caricatures, “because that would make them sound ugly. It’s more like creating this… new splendid form.” We followed him around for a about a year documenting his projects and cajoling him into demonstrating the bikes’ awesomeness in a series of humorous, fast-paced vignettes.

Throughout the short Tom chats with good friend (and sometimes collaborator), Diego Guzman, about how and exactly why he does what he does.
